lostissues
the stearing in my comanche that is. what may be the cause for the extra play in my stearing? i replaced the drag link with a rugged ridge crossover stearing kit but i can still swing the wheel back and forth like a little kid pretending to drive, and yet I'm still going in a straight line. anyone know what may solve this dilema? Thanks, Jonathan
Pete M
Have someone wiggle the wheel back and forth while you watch underneath. Follow the system down from the steering box and see where the motion stops. Depending on your situation, it might not be a single bad part but a combination of slightly bad parts. JeepcoMJ
could also be that your steering column shaft is not bolted down tight to the steering box, or that it's just loose, or even that the steering box is not operating correctly due to bad internals... check everything like Pete said. from the column down
mfpdm
If you have a tilt column, check to see if the bolts on the knuckle are loose. That is the reason I have my donor xj. The bolts came loose on the PO and he freaked out and drove it into a pole. The wheel still steers it just has a lot of play.
