Trans to transfer case gasket

I pulled apart my trans and transfer case so i can rebuild my trans. When i removed the 2 it seemed like there wasn’t a gasket? Maybe a light coat of rtv? So if there a gasket i can buy or just rtv? I read on another forum you don’t even need a gasket

The input/output shaft shares a seal. At least mine does, yours should too.

I’ve pulled mine out a few times now over the past few years, never added a gasket or rtv when mating the transfer to the trans. Don’t have any leaking between the two.

Correct.  There's dynamic seals on both ends.  The adapter space is not meant to be sealed and has a drain on the bottom of it.

 

There's some exceptions to this out there in other applications, but every factory trans/tcase combo in a MJ will be like this.
