zomeizter Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 In the near future, I will be lifting the MJ's suspension and while I'm at it I want to refresh the steering system. Sometime ago I read a write up somewhere stating that V8 ZJ parts are the way to go to beef up the MJ steering components, anyone have any leads to these details? :wavey:
Dzimm Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 This writeup? https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/zj-tie-rod-upgrade-22717/
zomeizter Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 Thanks Dzimm, looks like that's the info I need.
ParadiseMJ Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I have ZJ V8 tie rods on both my XJ and MJ. It is a nice upgrade. More solid feel. Draglink is AFAIK the same for both ZJ and XJ.
zomeizter Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 I gather the drag and center links from a 96 ZJ will work, ordering the below...
WyoCherokee Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 ZJ upgrade is simple and easy and cheap. Crown Auto sells a kit that is the same diameter as the stock setup, but solid rod instead of tube. For more gumbo, there are several companies offering 1 ton kits for the $200-300 range.
DirtyComanche Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I wouldn't buy a wear part, like a TRE, from Crown.
