Rambler fuel injection in 1956? With bendix?

Yep, was slated to be an option on the '57 Rebel. Even without fuel injection, the '57 Rebel was still the second fastest production car for 1957. Only the fuel injected 'vette was faster.

If I remember correctly, there was also supposed to be a version of the Bendix Electrojector system for the 1957 (?) Oldsmobile.

Bosch and Volkswagen finally came up with a reasonable production system available on the 1968 (?) VW Variant.  MPG was huge as I recall.  A friend's dad purchased one and was way over 40 mpg in 1969.

Well that was a very cool read.  Didn't know Bendix had done an electronic fuel injection system that far back.  The Corvette Rochester systems were totally mechanical and a real PITA to work on.  Thanks Cruiser!

Hilborn mechanical injection came out shortly after WW2 and is still around today. Nothing looks more impressive to me than an early Chrysler hemi with those big ole Hilborn velocity stacks.
