Tail lights

Does anyone know how to separate tail light lenses from housings? Thanks

I've done it before on XJ housings by way of prying... Lots of patience and carefully. Done one pair, no issues.  The other pair, cracked and chipped several places.
 

My friend did split a set using a heat gun and prying.  Looked like crap because parts were melted, and other parts cracked.

 

Why do you want to split them, anyway?  Custom LED boards or something?

The baking method worked pretty well. 15 minutes at 200 degrees loosened them up and I was able to pull them apart with a putty knife.

Thanks Pete I will give that a shot. One already worked most of its self loose so that shouldn't be a prob but REALLY don't want to break the lense just paid $140 for them!

One needs regluing as it is. Wast to throughly clean and repaint the silver backing. Just trying to get the best out of what I have to work with. Really glad I joined this club. Lots of great info and friendly help. The kind of stuff that makes the world go around!!
