I think you can use the regular cable driven 87-90 set up. I believe the 91- up has the electronic sender attached to the the regular speedometer gear.

I can't see the rock auto link on my phone

Correct.

Just remove the electronic sender and install the mechanical sender. Keep in mind that the 4WD speedo sender goes in the transfer case, so you may need a longer speedo cable.

I have a 94 NP231 with a cable speedo in my 88 MJ.  I just took the gear and assembly out of my old t-case and clocked it properly, by the numbers, and hooked my 88 cable to it (by accident actually, I didn't even know any better) and it works fine.

So I use the sender from the transmission that the speedo cable attaches to for the transfer case? Do I need to be looking for a 4wd speedo cable?

I took the gear/bracket out of my old transfer case, not a transmission.  I don't know if there is a difference.  You'll need a longer cable...one that reaches the transfer case.

Crown part # 53005084 is the longer 4wd speedo cable you'll need...

As far as swapping from your 2wd trans to put into transfer case...a couple of pics would help determine what you'll need...
