I am a full time camping and 4x4 vlogger on youtube. My husband and I live in Arizona and we just bought a 1980 Jeep J 10. Trying to find information on this Jeep is insane. It is the transition year from AMC to JEEP. It has a 360 engine, roll bar, bush bar, short box and a split bench seat. Its in great condition we are taking it on our first camping trip this week. We need info we don't know the name of the Jeep. Is it a Honcho ? or a Gladiator? We are lost. But absolutely in love. She rides smooth and luls me to sleep on every drive. The engine is excellent hubby has changed everything you can imagine. Only problem is the windows which i see is a common problem they rattle and driver side won't roll down. Looking forward to meeting other Jeepers out there and hopefully some from Arizona  :) Cheers. Tara the wife. Hubby is Chris https://www.instagram.com/p/BQSy4u9A9fU/?taken-by=morticia32

Welcome fellow Arizonan.

It should be a J10.

By 1980, Jeep had been fully updated by AMC, who bought them in the early 70s.

Honcho was a trim package but still a J10.

Below are a few links that will help you. They're GREAT trucks by the way.

The "J" trucks have a relationship with the full size Cherokees and other FSJs similar to what the Comanche has with the Cherokee XJ in that they share many similar parts. Your best source of J-truck info will be HERE. There are many fine folks there that can and will ID the specifics of your truck.

FSJ Network is the new IFSJA.  IFSJA had some issues with hosting and the owners not really caring, so a lot of guys moved over to FSJ Network.

I've got a 66 Gladiator, 76 J10 and 76 J20, they're all pretty rough to say the least.  Of the 66 I basically have only the cab, the grill, and the title...

If it's an automatic it's probably a Quadratrac transfercase and is probably still configured for full time 4wd.  Be wary of the potential to damage it, and the special fluid requirement for it.
