Well was filling up in Alabama and my trip meter quit on me as I was leaving the fuel station. Anybody happen to have a write-up on how to repair it? If not it looks like I'll be tearing into my Dash blindly in the near future.

Seriously this is how I feel some days.

I've had no luck repairing trip odometers.  My fix has been to replace the entire speedometer.  If you go that route, it is possible to adjust the odometer mileage on electronic odometers, but it helps if you find one as close as possible to your current mileage.

I saw an article on how repair tripmeters recently, I just can't remember which vehicle (and therefore which forum) it was on.

If anyone has an instrument cluster in the south Louisiana area for me to borrow, I'd like to take a look at it. My MJ is my daily right now and my backup currently has fuel problems.

I've got a cluster in the garage, probably from a XJ. Don't remember which version but I'll look when I go down there and get back to you.

Meant to add - obviously not in south LA area, but we can work something out.

Me either on the HO speedos. The Renix odometers/trip meters are cake to alter/fix, but not the HO's.

I tore apart a HO speedo to get the small shaft mounted white plastic gear.  I put that in a variable speed drill at a moderate speed, and put it on a folded towel so it meshed with the speedo.  Worked like a charm.
