blower motor

Recommended Posts

No relay, but there is a bank of resistors under the dash that controls fan speed. The resistors, I think, only drop the voltage for the slow and intermediate speeds. High speed doesn't use a resistor and should work even if the other two won't.

The fan switch does nothing at all, I jumped the blower to the battery and it came on, a friend said it is ether fan resister or the fan switch, the fuse is good, its become a pain in the @$$

It is possible that the switch needs cleaning or went bad, but see if you have voltage at the resistor pack. It's abvoe the passenger's feet and needs like a 7 or 8 mm wrench to remove the screws to pull it out. Be careful, if electricity is flowing through the resistors, it gets very VERY hot.

I had the same problem with my 88. A friend of mine who does wiring as a side hobby ran a wire from under the hood into the cab to the back of the controls. If only I knew exactly what he did, I might be able to help ya out on it.
