Whiz
So was feeling motivated today after getting my Serpentine belt replaced thought I would tackle the Wiper bushings today. Had no problems until I went to put the linkage back in and I can not get the dirviers side to come back up through the holes lined up. It is up against the back metal. I tried several times taking it out and putting it back in to get it aligned and finally I gave up for the night. The passenger side comes up right and can get the motor mount bolt hole close to ligned up but just can't get the drivers side. Wondering what I am doing wrong. Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks
madog7200
One of your linkage arms on the passenger side are flipped the wrong way it sounds like to me... i had this happen and thought I was going to rip the whole truck apart trying to get it back in. 91Pioneer
Just a tip for next time or other folks reading this thread. Set the linkage down, and change one bushing at a time without disturbing things too much. I've changed those bushings on two of my MJs and not had a problem doing it that way. 87MJTIM
I recently changed my bushings (only took 29 yrs). I pulled the unit out without a problem. Changed one bushing at a time. Went to put the unit back in.... It took me a LONG time to figure out how to slide it back in to place. :fs1:
HOrnbrod
No worries. If you used the crappy Dorman replacement bushings, they won't last long. It's goes in much easier the second time around. Has anyone been able to find bushings from another source other than the Dorman junk? madog7200
I used doorman parts hornbrod, what is wrong with them? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Minuit
You'll find out soon enough. Cheap Chinese(usually) junk.
HOrnbrod
They don't last. They are cheap plastic as compared to the OEM nylon bushings. Last set I put in only went around five years before the wipers started slapping off the windshield again. Two of them were split open. I lubed them up too when installing. The set I have in now have been in for four years, so I expect them to crap out pretty soon too. But AFAIK they are the only game in town........ But since you used doorman instead of the Dorman junk, maybe yours are better quality.
Whiz
Got it back in last night, highly recommend doing one at a time as I did have it backwards.
