Pete M
as the title says, I was trying to see why my 06 liberty crd engine's efan wouldn't turn on and I think I jumpered the wrong terminals. the engine instantly died and now won't restart. did I fry something expensive? :(stuck at a rest area in ohio. not the worst place to be, but neither is it the best. Pete M
forgot to add that everything else seems to work. although my starter is on a switch separate from the column
DirtyComanche
Oooo... Any idea what you jumpered to? Were you just trying to bypass a relay? Checked all your fuses yet?
Pete M
trying to bypass the relay. worse case is I just sent power back to the computer. :( I'm about to venture back out in the heat to see if disconnect ing the battery resets anything. DirtyComanche
Yeah, I am concerned that you fried the ECM. If it has a fuel/lift pump, is there any chance you fried it or the fuse for it? That would be not as bad, and it easily would be on a relay that is by the fan one. (No idea what a CRD Libby looks like under the hood, I imagine there's an engine, some wires, and some spinny bits and some stuff.)

Pete M
glimmer of hope! a guy at lostjeeps mentioned there's a chance that the computer has an internal fuse. still have to wait til morning to call green diesel engineering. they would know for sure. also, I found a nearby-ish junkyard with a computer. once again have to wait til morning to find out details on that. pic from yesterday because everybody loves pics :D

Pete M
all depends on what's wrong and how soon they can get parts.
Pete M
good news everyone! the jeep is working again! the dealership guy on the phone said it was a bad fuse, not a blown fuse , so I guess there's some corrosion issues for me to deal with in the near future. :( now I just need to get the Jeep mated back with the trailer and continue on our way :D
DirtyComanche
That's a lot better than it could have been.
Pete M
the e-fan is most definitely toast. :fs1: and after 15 hours of balancing the use of AC vs blasting heat into the cab with the windows down, the ol' girl made it and my folks' trailer is safe it their driveway. :D my nephews love their new play fort and movie theater. and I do believe my folks are planning on camping in their own driveway tonight.
