hillbilly51
Hey I need to do some PM on my 88 Comanche Chief 4.0L 5 speed Peugeot. Dana 30 Axle with Central Axle Disconnect. Is there a opinion on the best Crank Position Sensor? Airtex/Wells? Standard Motor Products? Dorman?...Other? Also, I need to fix a oil leak on the right front axle. I believe the needle bearing on the spindle shaft has failed, and has caused the inner seal to fail. This is on the Central Axle Disconnect system. Anyone have the part numbers for the bearing and seal? Will a Timekin SBK-1 Bearing/Seal kit fit this truck? Also, does anyone make a kit that is used to convert the closed cooling system to a open system? Any good write up's on this subject? One with a Radiator Cap that eliminates the plastic jug? Thanks a lot for any response

Knucklehead97
http://comancheclub.com/topic/50454-problems-with-jeep-I'm-looking-at/page-2has a parts list with parts numbers from where I added an inline radiator cap before I wrecked my Jeep and replaced the radiator with an open one. I highly recommend getting a Spectra Premium radiator with the filler neck. I can get you a parts number for the one I have in both of my MJ's if you want to go ahead and change the radiator. My overflow bottle is still a Jolly Rancher soda bottle... tacky but hasn't caused any trouble. Going the new radiator route, with antifreeze and all can be done easily around 130$
ParadiseMJ
Good Lord, I hate to say it, but I've had a AutoZone CPS on mine for two years without a single issue...BUT...I also carry a Standard spare. Our local Jeep dealer is a thief...$130. I won't endorse the AZ CPS...but it's been good to me so far...until tomorrow, or when I really need it  Thus the spare! I'm pretty sure just having the spare keeps the AZ CPS in line!
ParadiseMJ
On the axle...unless I'm missing something, if you a CAD, you have 4WD. If you have 4WD you have a sealed front bearing unit. You can't replace just the bearing and seal like the old days. It's one unit that bolts to the knuckle. Right around $90 for Timken at AutoZone On the radiator swap, Pull the old radiator, pull the pressure bottle and all associated heater hoses. You can use bulk heater hose or buy 97+ molded hoses for a perfect fit. Find a applicable "overflow" bottle...I got mine off a Nissan truck at the junkyard...$5. Spectra radiator $110 Heater control valve (if you want it) $25 Hose = about $20 or pre-made hose = $45 Overflow bottle = Soda bottle free (but really?) or used ~$5 or flimsy generic with crappy wire holder at AutoZone $ 9.99 The important part is that the spill hose needs to be able to suck coolant from the bottom of the bottle Coolant and distilled water 50/50 $20-25 Beer - PBR $5.75 Sierra Nevada $9.

Minuit
I got about 300 miles out of a parts store CPS. Fortunately it had the good sense to die when the truck was parked at home. Another parts store CPS has been good since then but I'm going Mopar or bust on anything important from now on. You can feel the quality difference with Mopar parts vs aftermarket.
