benjy_26
Hello all. Looking through some of the threads y'all post, I've noticed that a lot of you guys are outdoors a lot. Do you guys have preffered camping knives or edged tools that you carry? If so, how do you sharpen them and keep them sharp?
Minuit
May not be what you're looking for, but I EDC a Leatherman Charge. I almost never need to sharpen it but I use one of these. Probably not the best way but it does work pretty well and it's very easy to use.
benjy_26
That's cool! I'm sort of a knife nut, so all comments are welcome. I have been looking for a multi tool for a while as well. How do you like your Charge?
Minuit
Love it. It's a little bit on the heavy side for a carry tool but I manage fine. I don't think I've gone a day without using it for something.
benjy_26
Nice. My current EDC is an Ontario RAT1 folder. In the field, I carry that, a Morakniv classic and an Opinel in my bag, and an old Carbon V Cold Steel Trailmaster on my belt.
Minuit
Very nice  I don't have very many knives but I do have a couple Morakniv Companions. Very nice and cheap too.
benjy_26
Thanks. :) Moras are VERY underrated. Gotta love a world-class knife that goes for under 2 Jacksons!
Pete M
I have a leatherman juice s2 that is practically glued to my hip  (if I have a belt on, it's there). for camping I have an old Gerber Gator, and if I'm doing a task, a 1st gen super leatherman. a stone kit keeps the pointy things extra pointy. :D http://www.amazon.com/Lansky-Professional-Sharpening-System-Serrated/dp/B001KN3OKO/ref=sr_1_7?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1462984930&sr=1-7&keywords=knife+sharpening+kit I have a plethora of other blades, but those are my hands-down favorites. (although I am a bit envious of the new big leathermans) edit: almost forgot about my Cold Steel kukri machete. it was a gift I got and never really thought I'd use it... that is, until my family moved down south. it's a great way to keep the georgia brush and vines in check  http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/97MKM/MAGNUM_KUKRI_MACHETE.aspx
benjy_26
Good deal! I've been using a Lansky Blade Medic pocket sharpener, but it doesn't give a really fine edge. I'll have to look into that system, Pete. BTW, have you looked into the Khukuris from Khukuri House? Holy smokes....
fiatslug87
Most of my stuff is Spyderco. I use a diamond stone for plain edge knives but have never sharpened the SpyderEdge (serrated) ones.

Spyderco makes great stuff. I've been eyeing their Matriarch for a while now. It just looks wicked.
