Hey everyone I picked up this cherokee about 3 months ago it was running fine, until one morning i stopped by the store before work and left it idling outside because it was cold out. I came back out side and it wasnt running, figured on of my buddies saw me and shut it off to be funny, Hoped in and it started up fine, ran for about 45 seconds and died again.. then it wouldn't start at all. got towed back to my parking lot and replaced, cap and rotar, plugs, plug wires fuel filterair filter, CPS, all your general things attempted to clean the injectors but didnt end up having time so i put them back in carefully, and buttoned eveything up. as of now my next plan of action is to replace the fuel injectors. i can get it to start sometimes but it runs like crap and only for a couple seconds before it dies. any advice is greatly appreciated. Its a 89 cherokee laredo with 190k miles 4.0. here's a video of how it runs..     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRkmkIDnNVE

The guy i bought it from thought it would be cool to punch some holes in the muffler so, yes its been like that since i bought it. I'm sure the Header has the typical cracks, i don't think that would contribute to the problem though?

I haven't, and honestly i'm not sure how i would go about it.

You can rent a fuel pressure tester at Auto Zone and Oriellys , pay full price for the tester and get your money back once you return it . The tester threads on the Schrader valve located on the fuel rail , should have 31/39 lbs of pressure . It sure beats wasting money on parts that may not be needed , but if you want to upgrade the injectors to the 746 Volvo injectors while you're at it go for it .

thanks for the advice i just rented one today and tested it, i got 39 lbs every time while the jeep was trying to turn over. was hoping it would have been fuel pump. I'm still leaning towards fuel injectors but honestly have no idea why i say that. could you think of any other cheaper solutions?

MAP sensor plugged in? MAP vac line in good shape?  Firing order correct?  1-5-3-6-2-4 ?

Sound to me like a simple fix, maybe hard to find, but instead of filling it up with new parts, I'd be doing some more testing
