ComancheBill
Hey all I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction to find a Manual window regulator/ actuator for the passenger side of my 86 Comanche? I thought I heard that I could also use some parts from a cherokee up to 89, not sure if this is one of those parts. Thanks
onlyinajeep726
Any year MJ from '86 - '92 or XJ's from '84 - '96 should work.
gogmorgo
I'm ASSuming the 2-door and 4-door XJ's share the window regulator, but for most door-related things, the MJ's doors are identical to the '84-'96 4-door XJ's. Only exception I can think of is power window switches and wiring, where the MJ would use the 2-door XJ's stuff, and the MJ got towing mirrors that I don't think the XJ got. Also lock cylinders were updated around '91 for both the XJ and MJ.

64 Cheyenne
I have a couple regulators in stock getting ready to go in the 87, it would be good if they could be R&Rd or or made to work better before install, grease and or oil and if they be disassembled and is it recommended. I see the gear housing looks like its riveted together, any benefit to taking it apart there. FWIW, the drivers regulator on the 88 really sucks when it's extreme cold, I'd be interested in a DIY window regulator repair if anybody knows of one. I know it could be pulled and replaced, but what about when they become real expensive and no more can be found for cheap?

Grab ones out of the last few years of the older 4 door Cherokees (96 - 92?).The 2 door cherokee ones are different on the 97 + , so I would bet they are different on the older ones too . Not sure when they started the newer bolt in design but they work much better . It is a good idea to lube the regulator where the cable rides inside it the tube , there is really no point in taking the regulator apart . As far as the right lube goes, someone else may comment on that . If you're worried about the regulators becoming extinct ,start collecting them now . If everyone would grab them when they're at the JY I don't think we'd run out of them . There are atleast 30 96 and older Cherokees in my local JY , half of those having manual windows .
