co-MAN-che
After soaking multiple days submerged in penetrating oil, and even overnight in an electrolysis tank, I got impatient and tried to force it to raise and lower the cable, and it literally fell apart, spilling its components over my shop floor. Looked at the parts and the rust and salt and grime had taken such a toll on it that it isn't worth trying to reassemble. Any idea where I can find one remanufactured or is a junkyard my only option? The local junkyards never have Comanches in my part of ohio

johnj92131
Post in the Parts Wanted to Buy section. Contact the several sellers listing part outs in the For Sale section - even if they don't list the tire hoist ASK. Fellow in Colorado wants to thin his stock of used parts. Contact him. Then there is Jim, also in Colorado. He has quite a bit of old parts.

90comancheswb
I have owned several gen 1 (87-96) Dodge Dakotas and the spare tire hoist is very similar. When I get around to it I'm going to see if the guts will fit into my Comanche's.
man-coche
Why not just install one of these from foreign suv or pickup?
AMC86Kid
you can install any tire hoist it does not have to be an MJ one all it does is lower and raise the spare tire i would just grab one off of any old truck and find a way to bolt it to your frame i recently removed mine so i can clean it but i do not have the rod that you place in the metal pipe to turn the wire up and down not even sure of what it looks like so I'm probably just gonna have to make a custom one and keep it in the cabin since you say yours is already open can you take a pic of what the inside looks like ? i might open mine up and clean it on the inside as well

The jack and handle should be strapped to the rear wall of the cab, behind the driver's seat.
48MJ
I don't carry the stock jack any more. So I use a large flat blade screwdriver to raise and lower the spare tire.
