4DR XJ Rear Door Armrests

Will they fit the front MJ/XJ doors designed for the non-hockey stick armrests? I don't have a 4DR XJ sitting here to try it.

Are you asking about the stubby, base model arm rests or the rear hockey stick armrests?

I'm asking if the stubby XJ rear door armrests from a 4DR will bolt up on the XJ/MJ front door. Some of the lower trim level MJs had stubby door armrests.

I'll try to remember to check the heaps tomorrow. I think one of the MJs has base trim. For the moment, I'm going to guess "Probably not." The front stubby armrests are side-specific, and the part number is different from the XJ rear armrest.

Yes, saw that in the manuals, but somewhere from the dark recesses a memory brain cell is telling me that the front door mounting holes line up with the rear armrest holes.

Having troubles getting my camera to link to my computer, but the short answer is yes they will bolt up. I will keep trying to upload the photos. Doesn't look that great imo, but to each their own.

I think if the color matched and the imprint faded it would work fine. But being so obviously different makes it NQR.

I did remember to check. Hole spacing is 6-1/4" for both front and rear, as well as for the higher-end front "hockey stick" armrests. But the rear armrests are a bit shorter than the base level front armrests. I suspect if they were used, nobody would ever notice the difference, but it is there.

I have a set of gray non hockey arm rests from a '88mj. in pretty good shape, if ya want them

so.... actually.... my MJ has the tiny arm rests similar to the rear xj rests... from the factory not the medium ones. so i guess its confirmed all 3 came on MJs.

 

here's the imprint on the doors, showing its from the factory not just thrown on.

 

here's the part number stamped, its the same for both sides as they seem to be identical

 

 

and to confirm buckwheat, here's my spare black medium rests, next to the gray small rests.

not sure if this affects anything but the MJ that had the small arm rests also had the mini mirrors placed at the vent window bar.

I have a 96 XJ that came with the little armrests in front.

Only one I've seen.
