Jackrabbit41 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 So last weekend I did the ax15 swap, but never actually tried turning it over until today because I was busy with school and my sister was gone so I just drove her Jetta. Everything a on except for the 4wd linkage and front drive shaft. The thing won't start. Battery's good, starters on, it has gas but it was empty when I parked it so I just put 1/4 tank in it. I used the ax15 starter; should I have used the ba10 starter? I don't know much about getting a vehicle started so any help would be great!
Crash Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Not cranking at all? Crank/no start? Crank sensor?
Jackrabbit41 Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Not cranking at all? Crank/no start? Crank sensor? Cranking but not starting. And it ran perfect when I parked it
Jackrabbit41 Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Also there's no spark and no wetness on the spark plugs
Deadbeat Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Replace the CPS crankshaft position sensor. I wouldn't even bother to ohm it out and play with it. Just replace it as one sure sign is no spark, no fuel. You might have whacked it somehow on the AX-15 swap. I spent almost a year chasing a intermittent bad one as every expert, mechanic, shop says they are never intermittent they just quit on the freeway and you tow it home. They were wrong. One day crank no start. Next day start just fine and run fine. Next day crank no start. Drove me nuts. If I remember correct they are not very expensive but a bit of a task to install. I had a shop with a hoist do it. Easier to do when your standing up. Worth a try.
Jackrabbit41 Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 I got it going. Just had to bolt on the thing on top of the tranny bell housing. I started it up with the exhaust off and it sounds soooooo good. I might have to straight pipe it
fiatslug87 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 That's the CPS everyone was telling you about.
