Comanche County
I've been through 10 gallons of parts washer solvent from Advance Auto. Even though it works well, at $75/5 gallons I'm not buying anymore of it. I've got some things to get clean and was thinking of using some mineral spirits or making some sort of concoction with it. What do you guys recommend for a small parts washer? I think there needs to be some sort of lubricant in the solvent for the pump too.

cruiser54
Looks like good stuff. I think there's some good non-petroleum based stuff out there.
Megadan
I've been using this in my little parts washer for a couple of years with no complaint. It's about half the cost of the parts store stuff. Also, if you can rig up some sort of filter setup, you should be able to re-use the solvent for a while before it needs changed out.http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/crown-psc-1000-parts-cleaner-5-gal

johnj92131
I have used diesel fuel, gasoline, paint thinner and a number of other solvents. The issue is evaporation loss and disposal of the residue. Oil Eater is a great product. I have used it for years! It does a great job on my garage floor and driveway also. Have not tried the tractor supply product. I have not seen carbarator cleaner in years. But that used to be a good thing for small parts. As I recall, a 1 gallon can with a parts bucket and a metal lid to hold down evaporation.
