I'm trying to find the link I read on Cherokee forum, guys started a post, they came to the conclusion the change to horizontal was made in 93? Although with the HO adapter, I believe the change is just as simple as turning it.

Plenty of room for the larger capacity filters, easier getting a strap wrench on it, makes less mess when changing, and can remain in place when changing the motor mounts. Maybe other reasons too - just can't think of them right now.
Bobolink Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I didnt like any of the factory options. Mine's remoted out of the engine bay. Doesn't dump oil on anything. Increased capactiy to 7 qts. with a bigger filter (Wix 51515 equiv).
HOrnbrod Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 The Wix 51515 and equivalents (6.93" HIGH, 3.660" DIA) are the same filters I use. The Wix is good, also the Purolator L40017.
