HOrnbrod
You can see in one of the pics the oil filter is well below the charcoal cannister. Looks like you have the right cannister too.
Rockfrog
The OFA on my 92 parts XJ was up like a Renix.
ggcnash
The OFA on my 92 parts XJ was up like a Renix. I'm trying to find the link I read on Cherokee forum, guys started a post, they came to the conclusion the change to horizontal was made in 93? Although with the HO adapter, I believe the change is just as simple as turning it.

HOrnbrod
:dunno: I don't know which is correct, but I'll keep mine horizontal. Plenty of room for the larger capacity filters, easier getting a strap wrench on it, makes less mess when changing, and can remain in place when changing the motor mounts. Maybe other reasons too - just can't think of them right now.
Bobolink
I didnt like any of the factory options. Mine's remoted out of the engine bay. Doesn't dump oil on anything. Increased capactiy to 7 qts. with a bigger filter (Wix 51515 equiv).
HOrnbrod
The Wix 51515 and equivalents (6.93" HIGH, 3.660" DIA) are the same filters I use. The Wix is good, also the Purolator L40017.
