87MJTIM Posted June 20, 2015 Share Posted June 20, 2015 Getting the parts together for the AX15 install. The AX came from a '98 XJ, so it is ext slave. What have others done for the clutch hydraulic conversion? My choices are to purchase a pre-bled master/slave system. Rockauto sells some for around $125. Or I can get just a slave and hydraulic line for about the same price as the whole system, and keep the master cylinder that I have. The problem with the second option is that I don't know the bore size on the master, so I don't know what bore size slave to get. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Megadan Posted June 20, 2015 Share Posted June 20, 2015 I used a pre-bled setup. It saves quite a bit of time. The only thing to be aware of is you may have to shave a bit off of the rod end that connects to the pedal so you can feed the cotter pin in completely. 87Warrior Posted June 22, 2015 Share Posted June 22, 2015 When I did the late model external conversion in my '86 2.5 with a YJ AX5, I pieced together the clutch hydrologic system from various NEW parts (slave, master, hydrologic hose). The cost was significantly less than the pre bled systems and I have piece of mind knowing exactly what fluid is in there. Bleeding the system took about 15 minutes and has been trouble free since.
