I have a PO who decided to primer areas on the MJ that are not needed. I'm wanting to try and remove it. Gas, laquour thinner, paint thinner? Power washer?

What are your tricks to removing primer without harming the paint?

Haha I knew that's the answer I was going to get, I just didn't know if anyone had any other ideas.

I've had the occasional success with detailing clay taking spray paint off of clear coat. Depending on how the primer was applied this may or may not work (better chance if the primer was just sprayed over the truck's paint), but it's another option you might try. It's very gentle and won't hurt the paint at all.

Clay bar does work well for light misty overspray.  Heavier coats I would definitely try thinners first.  Last resort would be dish soap, water, and wet sanding.  It would really depend on where and how heavy that primer is.

It's heavy in areas, I used gas on most of it. He used some cheap primer and some John Wayne primer. You can guess which one is tougher. Hah, I'm going to get some laquour thinner and try it.

Thanks for the imput!
