Norwegian 86' 2.5L 4x4 XLS (Picture heavy)

Recommended Posts

Welcome, you did really good on that truck considering the scarceness of the Comanche there. It looks in decent shape. It might be cheaper to have brackets made there. Take that bumper to a mettle shop and get an estimate on getting it straightened. You might get lucky and your headache will be gone maybe for allot less then shipping. Some of the dodge trucks ran the same type bumper. I have a bent on both ends original on my 88 Eliminator and FRY bumper on my 87 Pioneer 4x4 long bed. Frankly I prefer the FRY much stronger. An auto restoration shop should have a line on a good mettle guy. I'm kind of liking that red interior. Your lucky it's in such good shape. Makes that rare truck even rarer. Best of luck to you. I'll look for your build.

Got it back from the shop today, a few small things to get it approved.

Most of the faults are small and easy to fix, but there are two things that I need some help with:

1. The joint (don't know if it's correct in English?) on the left pitman arm needs to be replaced. Can this be salvaged from a Cherokee or do I need to order one? And if so, which one?

2. They couldn't find the vehicle identification number under the car. Where is this located usually? I have my doubts they'll find it, I was probably stupid when trusting a Hells Angels member and bought his car...

1. There is no joint on a Pitman arm. Which part are you referring to from the below diagram?

The VIN is on the left dash and firewall body plate on domestic models. Your export may be different, but I doubt it.

Thanks for feedback! You guys are always helpful.

I've circled the "joint" or whatever it is that I need in the picture linked below

The VIN might be different here, insane rules on vehicles. But I will look for it, I might have covered it in paint by mistake. Thanks!

That's the Tie Rod End (TRE), left hand, to the Pitman arm. P/n 52005739. The other end attaches to what is commonly called the drag link. One of these off a Cherokee XJ will work, but they are not that expensive, so it's best to get a new one if possible.

Awesome, thanks! Will salvage from the XJ i have on hand just to get it approved for the road, and at the same time order a new one. Thanks again, really appreciate the help you guys provide!

Edit:

Sure thats the right PN? The manufacturer doesn't list Comanche as a match.

Hvordan går det med comanchen?

Nice to see another norwegian here. Where do you live, far up north? Thats what facebook and the postal code on the picture from rockauto says... I'm planning a camping trip up to kirkenes this summer and can bring some parts from my pile if you need anything!
