86 Comanche 4x4 2.5  what other motors will fit n this truck I'm putting a lift on it big tires and il need more power may change trans and case what will fit  motor wise what have yall used

I have a 5.2 Magnum V8 in my 86. It kinda fits.

what all have u had to change my 86 is a 4 speed which I probably go to a 5 speed

It depends on what you mean by "fit," and how much work and fabrication you want to do.

 

THe direct fir options are another AMC/Jeep/Chrysler 2.5L, an AMC or GM 2.8L V6 (not a good choice), or a 3.1L or 3.4L GM V-6 out of a rear-wheel drive car like a Firebird or Camaro.

 

Beyond that, it's adapters and fabrication for the win.

3.1 and 3.4 bolt up same motor mounts  not really wanting to do a ton of fab putting it on 35s w 4.5 inch lift change n gears just need extra power for mud hunting it 4x4 am I gunna b able to find a 5 speed for one of them motors

Buy a 4.0 XJ donor complete and swap it all over. You'll need to cut and weld the core support to swap the rad and maybe massage the firewall s little but I think that's your best option for power reliability and cost with minimal fabrication. All you'll need made up is a rear driveshaft.
