Rohls
So I just refreshed the front end on my '92 Manche...: new pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, shocks, and even did the three u-joints. All was fine until I stuck the driver side half-axle back in , tightened it up, and observed the LEAK which had formed...:/...bummer. Diff fluid puddling on the garage floor...My question is, WHAT SEALS DO I NEED TO PURCHASE? An Amazon or Summit Racing link would be ideal....or just a part number.1992 MJ stock front axle...Dana 30. THANK YOU!
Blue XJ
You would need the inner axle seals. They are located at the diff housing, you have to pull the carrier to replace them. I don't have a part number handy, but very parts store I have ever been to has had them in stock.
Jeep Driver
What leaked out is what leaked into the axle tube while you had the axle shaft out, you let the truck down off the jack and what was in the tube came out. Not necessarilly a bad seal.
HOrnbrod
In case you need the seals, the p/n is J8121781. http://www.amazon.com/Crown-Automotive-J8121781-Axle-Seal/dp/B00B8X3BQ8
Rohls
You guys are great; Thank you! Just after I finished posting this, I had a 'duh' moment  and realized that fluid could easily be residual from what leaked out when the half-shaft was out; as mentioned above....! I think the plan is to wipe up what I can (done) and make sure no more leaks out...to be continued! Thanks again! The seal PN I'm sure will benefit others as well!   . :MJ 1: . :D
Rohls
Alright, well I've been monitoring the aledged leaking seals and after wiping and checking every stop/over night it seems like they are indeed weeping... . There has been a small puddle each time... Looks like I should change them out as soon as I can...bummer. Where's the best most comprehensive DIY write-up since this will be my first time doing this...?

64 Cheyenne
I attributed my "weep" to the fact that my non stock cover allows for more oil in the pumkin, immersing the seals. Now I pull the plug, check the level, call it good. FWIW, never have replaced or added oil after the initial rebuild oil change. Which was coincidentally when I put the non stock cover on. Oh yeah lots of non stock covers raise the oil capacity/level above the seals. Which is why I pull the plug to check, besides I can check for contamination more often this way. Thanks, but I've got the stock cover on there and it didn't weep before, so I think I probably damaged it when i put the driver side half-axle in there...crap.
