What model Comanche do I have?

Recommended Posts

I purchased a project 1988 Comanche, which I am finishing....hopefully before summer's end. How do I know which model Comanche I have? Does it make a difference? I have added a Chevy 350 so the engine is not the same? Many changes from when it first came to be. JRLINTN

99% of it is just the standard trim package for the level. But it could all be mixed/matched so none of it matters much or is set in stone. You can get a 4.0/auto "base" Sportruck SWB with the towing package, A/C and D44 rear like was the factory set up on my '88 or you can wind up with the higher trim package Pioneer LWB  with a 2.5, stick, D35  and no a/c.

These trucks aren't like modern trucks where you have to have power windows to have an automatic transmission or something silly like that. Almost anything can have almost any combination of options so it's kind of hard to pin down exactly what you have. In most cases it doesn't matter. These trucks are like Legos. I've added many factory options to my truck using junkyard parts.

It also doesn't help that so many of them were special orders, so god only knows what the person could have ticked on the options sheet.

If you email Jeep with your VIN, they might be able to find your original build sheet for you.
