WiscoXJ Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Took my rear flares off today and of course theyre rusted out behind them. The XJ's have some pretty cool rear armor options out there. I doubt anything is available for the Comanche but has anyone made anything cool? rather than replacing the sheet metal id rather beef it up but I'm open to opinions
daking Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Yea, I'd like to see some of what you guys did too. I've seen at least 2 other trucks on here with some real nice bed armor. I'd like to add some rear, and lower bed armor too
88whitemanche Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 These two builds has awesome ideas all around....both towards the end have more of the bed armor(custom work but BA) http://comancheclub.com/topic/27668-h3resqs-dream-mj-the-build-continues/?fromsearch=1 http://comancheclub.com/topic/8516-wifes-mj/?fromsearch=1
WiscoXJ Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 I saw this one in a google image search today. It looks like its just the xj armor modified a bit. These look awesome too I would like mine to tie in all the way around the wheel well. Like I said my fenders are rusting out and I want to beef up. I'm guna see what sort of prerunner stuff is out there. My buddy is great at fab and I bet could think of something.
Incommando Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Mnkboy oughtta whip up a couple of sets of those.... :brows:
mnkyboy Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Yes i made them. i have thought about making a few sets, just need to find some spare time.
mnkyboy Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 They are bolted on,there is just enough room behind the tail lights to get a hand up behind the bedside to put on the nuts. If you look close at the pic you can see the heads counter sunk into the corner armor, its a stainless bolt with a tapered phillips head.
WiscoXJ Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Nice, I'm contemplating how to fasten mine just due to the fact that its a daily and I'm in Wisconsin. I don't want salt getting between me bed and the plating. I could always silicone around every thing prior to install I suppose
