Currently working on a 00' XJ swap into my 90' MJ. I'm using the 231 off the 90', which had a speedo cable up into the cluster. The 00' uses a sensor? How do I make this work?

Yup, all of it. Got a couple days of work left and she'll be ready to fire up.

Then you'll need the speedo gear / sensor housing from a 97 and up 242 tcase, but I'm not sure it will fit your 231 tcase.

Why a 242 part? The 00' swap had a 231 attached to it before.

00 XJ could have either TC; assumed your 00 donor XJ donor had the 242. How about the 90 TC spline count compatibility? I forget........

If you are using the 00 dash and wiring/pcm ... Use the 00 speed sensor. If you are using the 90 dash/wiring/PCM then use the 90's cable drive .... It will drop right in and index as normal.

I'm using a complete 00' swap, minus the t-case. The donor I got had a 231 with SYE and Tom Woods driveshaft that someone else got to before me. My 90' t-case already has a SYE so it wasn't an issue really. Splines matched up between my 00' AW4 and my 90' 231.
