TheDude
Hi all, I just finished my 8.8 swap with the rear disks. I have everything else working aside from the parking brake which, I would really like to have since its a manual.. My question is, do any of you know of a direct fit replacement parking brake cable that will work for this? https://vimeo.com/109349196

TheDude
ZJ parking brake cables work perfect Oh, really? I heard those worked for Cherokees but wasn't sure if the Comanche needed something different. Thanks, I'll try I out.
Jeep Driver
Get two of the passenger side, the drivers side is shorter by an inch or two and is slightly different.
TheDude
I had to order two driver side cable because they can't even get the passenger side. Also, according to their descriptions, the difference in length is only .03"

Also, according to their descriptions, the difference in length is only .03" I just bought mine two months ago and they are readily available, still have the bags they came in if you want part numbers. Drivers side is a stretch..........unless you know something I don't...........
HOrnbrod
The MJ left and right rear cables for both LWB and SWB use the same part number, 52006380. Both are the same length. To attach the cable to the Ford ebrake lever you can use a slotted Ford brake clevis.
TheDude
I'm talking about ZJ cables being basically the same length left to right, to use them on a Comanche with an 8.8. Out of curiosity, what length are the stock cables suppose to be?

Out of curiosity, what length are the stock cables suppose to be? They are something like 52".........I'd have to look it up........I have replaced my stock cables with Raybestos cables when I had the D35........they are long. The ZJ cables are something like 42 inches........and are already too short.

TheDude
The stock MJ cables have the wrong end for my 8.8 with disks. I tried rigging it up but it doesn't work right.

Do you have the Ford e-brake lever like the picture I posted above? You should. If so, then use the Ford clevis (the shiny thing) to connect them. And what Hornbrod is point out to you is the tabs at the end of the cable that convert the cable to disc cables. The tabs are $35.
TheDude
Oh.. I see it now, that picture didn't come up for me before. Will using that adapter work without a spring like shown in the picture? I thought it needed the spring to full release the brake.
HOrnbrod
Ebay, $.99/ea: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Brake-Clevis-Set-Ford-emergency-parking-brake-for-jaguar-wilwood-rearend-v8-/351196757620?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51c4f53e74&vxp=mtr You can leave the spring on the cable or not. I did not because the ebrake has return springs internally and pulls the shoes back when released.

TheDude
That's great! And if leaving the cable off is good enough for you, it's good enough for me. Thanks for your help guys!

TheDude
Ah, I forgot the most obvious difference with Comanche, LWB and SWB. Mines a long bed which is why it needed to be longer than those.
HOrnbrod
Again: The MJ left and right rear cables for both LWB and SWB use the same part number, 52006380. Both are the same length. The difference is made up in the single cable from the turnbuckle to the foot pedal.
TheDude
Ha, I can't read today. I haven't much sleep since I stayed up late and then got up early to finish the swap. The. I spent the rest of the weekend moving out.
