ggcnash
Hi guys I'm sure someone can answer this my dad got himself a 91 mj around a month ago,to make a long story short he got the engine rebuilt by a reputable engine shop. Neways got it back yesterday so this morning went over to help him assemble the thing and noticed the rubber orings for the oil filter adapter were wrong? So I run the # on the gasket set fel-pro 260-1424 all I can find is 87-90. Now here is the kicker this is the gasket set the engine shop gave him left over from his build, so that means this shop put a renix gasket set on a h.o engine! Is this bad I mean it's obviously not good, but I guess what I'm asking is the assembled long block ok like the head, oil pan, timing cover, t stat, water pump, and valve cover. That is how he got it, can we buy another set for the adapter and exhaust/intake and be ok? Or does this thing need to be completely tore down? Thanks for reply in advance.

ggcnash
Wouldn't this also mess with the quench height?
ggcnash
Correction on the water pump and t stat he let me know he added those before I get here with the gaskets they came with.So those are correct as for everything else?
Jeep Driver
What are you sweating over? Long-block thus far......? Head gasket and one at the oil pump should be the only ones they used and they are the same. Intake and exhaust either match up or they don't. Pan, VC, water pump, thermo housing, timing cover........all the same. The only thing I can think of is the oil filter may have changed from metric to SAE in those years......thus the change in O-ring.
Tactical Bacon
Yeah, the oil filters went from 22mm? to 3/4x16 thread pattern in 91. Got a sticker on my firewall.
cruiser54
20mm. Watch out for the intake/exhaust gasket. The one used must be for the intake manifold used.
