The yoke came with ubolts but the nuts do not fit down flush on the back of the yoke, there is no room for a flush fit. I assume someone drilled out the yoke and went from straps to ubolts????

The axle is a 29 spline out of a 97.

Is there a solution or do I need a new yoke?

I'll post pics if necessary.

Thanks.

Do you mean that there is no flat surface on the back side of the yoke for the nuts to seat against? Or are the threads on the u-bolts too short to allow the nuts to seat? Are the u-bolts round in cross-section where they contact the bearing cup or are they flattened in the U bend? Pics would help.

An image would help yes, but why not just grind a flat surface for the nuts to sit on? Or add a ring?

I would try to grind a flat surface. The u-bolts are much stronger than the straps.

Iron rock also sells u-bolt yolks now. Modding a stocker works but I have done it in the past and it failed.

Well.....?

Why did it fail?

I do not off-road my truck and it has a 2.5.......cannot see a reason for a fail.

Smashed it on a rock. When I modded the stock one, there was not very much material left.

Yeah, I can appreciate that. I took at little material off as I could get away with.

I looked and the price for a new one seems to be consistent at $75

My $100 axle has now cost me about $500.....so for now......this will have to get me by.
