TheDude
Hi, I was wondering if there is anyway to tell if a gauge cluster is from a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder?
reprod89
6 cylinder auto trans.would be the normal to find this cluster than a 4 cylinder probably early years 86-89 with a gm spedo cable connection. the 90-95 used a different color lay out but kept the gm cable and wire setup same, but i will work with both engines just make sure to change the sensors from the dummy light to variable current. all the wiring for the (sensor) swap is their just need to find them
TheDude
I had the guy who had it throw it in his 4.0 MJ and he said the tach was just bouncing. I put a full cluster in mine but the tach reads double and neither have an adjustable tach.
jimoshel
Can't find it in any of the manuals but if I remember correctly, doubtful, The '86 year was the only one with an adjustable pot for the tach. '84-'86 for XJ's. All others were fixed Had to replace a resistor to change the range.
