Ok, I have an internal slave ax15 in my 91 4.0.  Trying to gather info for a clutch fix, going to be needed not to far in the future. This will be my first time changing a clutch. With having to pull the transmission to change the clutch, curious about just changing the transmission

Now for the choices:

I have a NV3550 with bell housing out of a TJ (inherited from brother in law).  Should I just put the 3550 in (I would need to get a slave cylinder for it).  In reading reviews it seems more people try to find a 3550 for the housing to use on an internal 15.

Should I take the bell housing off the 3550 and put it on my ax15, thus creating an external slave ax15?  I would have to purchase all other parts to change my ax15 from internal to external?

Last choice, just pull the internal slave ax15, change the clutch and reinstall?  In reading peoples experiences with internal slave transmissions, I feel that this option is polishing a turd!

Sorry if this would be obvious to some of you, but experiences, advice, thoughts would be helpful

Thanks Josh

I hunted on ebay and craigslist for an external bellhousing.  Paid $175 including the fork and a master/line/slave combo.

Had to buy a front retainer cover (Novak).

Swapped the bellhousing and I am ready to install.

(Anyone need/want the bellhousing and retainer cover for the internal?)

You will like the NV3550. I never really liked the AX15 in my old YJ and much prefer the NV3550 in my TJ over any AX15 I have driven.
