Jeep Driver
I've been looking for replacement for my D35. I've looked at Ford 9", Chrysler 8.75, AMC 20, and everything in between. I got a lead on a 8.5 last week, the seller said that it was 4.10 and open........just a run of the mill XJ axle......I told him I would call next week. Seller called me back last night and told me to come and get it, little more than 150 miles away and I was not all that anxious. But he swore it was 4.10......so I figured, why not? Couple of questions- I assume I can trust the 4.10 stamp? Is this a stock gear or would anyone be able to tell? Not and open differential, is this a Chrysler limited slip? or other? I offered $100 and he took it. When I got home I looked up the Rockcrusher cover, one listed on ebay for $115 and I find that they are no longer available but they did sell for $140. So, I suspect the cover alone is worth the $100 I paid. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
Dillithium
That is a massive score, and I hate you for it! Cheapest I've found so far is 400...
HOrnbrod
Good score. The Chryco p/n on the ring gear, 53008041, is half of a factory 4.10 R&P gear set for the 8.25 rear axle. Well done. http://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/p/JEEP_1998_CHEROKEE/GEAR-KIT--GEAR-PACKAGE-Ring-And-Pinion-GEAR-and-PINION-PACKAGE--Also-Includes-Items-6-8-12-23--and-32-DMF--DMF-Includes-All-Items-In-Box--DMF-Includes/6690314/04720973AB.html
Jeep Driver
Thank you. For those who have done the 8.25 swap, are the Ujoints that same or will I need to get one to adapt? What about the brake line to the block, I'll need to replace it, any one in particular? Off to find disc brakes now..........
Incommando
The u-joints are 1310 for both.
dave92cherokee
Are you currently soa or sua? If you're going soa then make sure to relocate the perches if it hasn't been done already. As for the rear brake hose get the mid 90's Dakota line so you have plenty of length available for lift.
