GrizzzzBear
I was a dumb @$$ and ran the tank dry. I was distracted, with good cause. Truck sat about 15 min with ign on, like she was running. Now, I have no fuel pressure. Starts & runs with start juice, then nothing. Do I need to replace the fuel pump straight out, or start somewhere else?? She was run dry before, but no issues when I added fuel to the tank.
HOrnbrod
Have you verified the no pressure with gauges? Can you hear the pump run?
Dando
Could be sediment clogged something, honestly I would try replacing the fuel filter as it's so easy and cheap.
GrizzzzBear
Don't hear pump get up to pressure, at turn of Ignition. There is no pressure at Fuel Rail.
HOrnbrod
What are you driving in Gods Country? Hopefully you just smoked the fuel pump ballast resistor by leaving the key on, but guessing since we know nothing about your MJ. Edit your signature please............ GrizzzzBear
I can't find anything in the book about the Fuel Ballast Resistor. I found 3 on NAPA website. Where would I find this & How do I Test it??
gogmorgo
It's the white ceramic deal bolted to the driver's side fender. See below for reference: How to test it? Bypass it by connecting the two wires together. If your fuel pump suddenly works, either find a new one or leave the wires connected together permanently. All the thing does is make the fuel pump less noisy.
GrizzzzBear
Thank You Very Much!!! I had a feeling about that thing, thought it was something else. I Appreciate the help!!!
Eagle
The fuel pump needs to be immersed in gasoline for cooling. My guess is that you cooked the fuel pump. (I hope I'm wrong.)
GrizzzzBear
I hope I didn't do that. Cheapest I found was on Evilbay, $30 Locally they are $70 - $85 The rough part is I am trying to sell a Saturn VUE now.

gogmorgo
:???: wasn't me who suggested it... I just pointed you at it when you asked and said what most did with it... :dunno: Good to know you've got things working, though!
GrizzzzBear
You are right. However, You had put up the pic. I remember those things being associated with the Ignition on old Dodges & Plymouths. Had a 67, when it would be raining, would run like crap.
