Penny_Thief Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 So I bought my MJ a little over a year ago. The truck's an '86 XLS w/2.8 GM, Torqueflite 904, and NP 207 (Don't quote me on that one). I haven't really done much to it, because I always had other projects going on. But yesterday I decided to order a RC 3" lift for the Hell of it, and plan on making a moderate trailish rig. Furthermore, would anyone be interested in buying stock Comanche rollbars? This is the only picture I have on this computer. I'll post more if requested.
Spectormj Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 The 2.8 got any plans to get rid of it? I'm running a 2.8 and I'm planing to drop a 4.0 in to replace the underpowered carbed 2.hate
Penny_Thief Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 The 2.8 got any plans to get rid of it? I'm running a 2.8 and I'm planing to drop a 4.0 in to replace the underpowered carbed 2.hate I've thought about swapping a 4.0 in, but I just don't see it happening with me. I kinda like that little, powerless V6. Maybe I'll swap some parts from a 3.1 I have lying around, but a full on engine swap would be beyond my knowledge.
Spectormj Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 my 2.8 won't even turn my tires good enough to unstick me from soft mud So far i like your rig what plans other than some 3.1 parts do you have
Minuit Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Nice rig. I really like the gritty look some of these older MJs have. Good luck! I'm sure you'll find somebody wanting a long bed rollbar.
Trapn6.0 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 How much for the roll bar and where are you located.
Penny_Thief Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Thanks for the compliments. My RC 3" lift came in yesterday, so I'll install that some day when I won't lose fingers to hypothermia. Damn you Ohio weather! Maybe blocks in the back and spacers in the front too. I kind of want an all-around trail/mud truck. I'll try to post some more pictures for you guys.
Spectormj Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Id personally go with a SOA in the rear Blocks are a bit of a hassle
Spectormj Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 and if your still looking to sell your bar put it in the classified section
ComancheKid45 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 FYI... Blocks in the rear of an MJ will lower the ride height, The rear suspension is a Spring Under Axle design ;)
Penny_Thief Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 Well at least we all know how little I actually know... Maybe I'll still put blocks in the back and ride with sweg. :rotf:
