BootsNTrucks
Well eventually I am going to mount my 12,500 lbs winch on my truck (found it laying around the barn still in the box and I'm too cheap to buy another). My plan is to make a rectangular tube steel bumper to match my rear one with a receiver in it that I can slide a winch in use and then remove when done. Now I know these cursed Cherokee front ends are weak as hell and twist very very easily. The question is what did you guys do to avoid the twist of death? I doubt one single bumper is gunna solve all issue....
yellaheep
How to avoid the twist of death with a receiver mounted 12K lb winch? Put that 12K lb boat anchor on craigslist then go get a 8K-9K lb winch mounted to a proper winch bumper. You'd be hard pressed to twist anything with this winch mount set up....... Incommando
Here is another option that provides needed beef to the front: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/body-armor/1011786-ors-cherokee-stubby-bumpers-free-shipping-3.html IMHO it looks better than the option above

Timeless
Plate the unibody with 1/8" or 3/16" sheet steel. Tie the frame rails together and too the reinforced unibody with either a winch bumper or a proper winch mount. Winch away.
48MJ
Go to E-Trailer there are a few companies that make front receiver hitches for Comanches and Cherokees (same thing). Some of them drop the hitch down to low I think, but some tuck them up nicely. I've ran one for years and it works very well. It also helps tie the front frame together. I believe mine is the Draw tite.and they are about $200.

I was afraid of that....I just don't like the way the truck looks with that recessed bumper set up....
