My wife got accepted to a PhD program at Texas A&M today. :banana: So we will be moving halfway across the country this summer or next summer for the next 5 years of our lives. Only been to Texas once and the entire hour or so was spent in the Houston airport, so it's basically all new to me. Very exciting day for her, which means I'm excited. Isn't that how it works? The best part is that we will be looking for a house out there, which means more driveway space. That means I will finally be able to sleep close to my MJ once again. The past 9 months have been rough living 150 miles from my truck. I will be sure to try to meet up with the fellow MJers in the College Station area once we get there. I can't wait for the new opportunities that Texas will bring us. . :MJ 1: .
buffalob Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 congrats... My Dad was an English professor at A&M many years ago, He finally took tenure after 28 years in the department. He passed away 16 years ago. It is a great campus. What is your Wife's field of study?

The phd program is something related. It's some long name. Cognition, creativity, instruction, and development. It's a mouth full I know.

I'm not too worried about the humidity. Living in central va my whole life I've gotten used to 99% humidity in the summer. The difference will be that its 100 in Texas vs 90 here. But I won't have to deal with 7 degrees like I did today and will again tomorrow.

My mj didn't come with ac from the factory, and after driving it down the street on a joy ride in the Texas heat makes u smell like you haven't showered in days.....
86customanche Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 We now have a new way of getting to texas this summer. Just bought the wife a new to her car. It will get about twice the mpg she is used to getting in her f150. Now all we need is a place to live and a job for me and we are set.

86customanche Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 We'll we are now sitting in a hotel in Shreveport only about 5 hours from the final destination. Now I have a dilemma. When we arrive, we have lots of 'stuff' to unload and only myself, my wife, and both of our middle aged fathers to do so. I hope to find some able bodies in the area to throw some beer at to help unload. Bryan TX after lunch tomorrow. Be there.
Keyav8r Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Would like to help, but I'm farther East than Shreveport. I'm sure there's good ole Texan MJ owners who will step up. You might want to start a new thread titled something like "Help needed in Bryan, TX!" Might get the word out better.
