buffalob
I am running the "bomb proof" motor mounts from M.O.R.E. (mountain off road ent) on my 88' 4 liter. (pricey but nice). I know the offer mounts for the 2.5 also...not sure about the trans mount though.
88whitemanche
I ran with the brown dog motor mounts for a week because I couldn't stand the vibration through the cab so I just went with the cheap $10 motor mounts.... Brown dog mm-They are stout and throttle response with them was awesome because it felt sturdy but the vibes sucked!!!! I have the 2.5 and thought if I was in the trail and my motor mount broke the $10 one would be easier to accommodate than the pricey ones I know your asking more of the quality brand...hopes this helps
nitroxsteve
I have "anchor" motor mounts in my truck never used the trans mount. Its a 4.0 not 2.5 not sure if that makes any difference or not. My mounts came from advanced and have done a good job for the last two years. They looked exactly like the stock mounts.
54bobby
from what I've read, the engine mount replacement is pretty simple. put truck on stands, jack up engine from oil pan using a block of wood, the remove and replace. is this proper procedure? is the trans mount procedure basically the same? any tricks or things to watch out for while doing these? nitroxsteve
yep it easy just don't get carried away with the jack and crunch your oil pan. trans mount is the same just use a Jack to get the weight off the mount.
carnuck
If you have a fan shroud, be careful it doesn't get crunched.
54bobby
do I have to jack the motor up that far that the fan will break the shroud?
nitroxsteve
I found out I had broken motor mounts when I accelerated hard one day and the fan hit the shroud. I had not replaced the shroud before I installed the new mounts so I don't know how close you will get to it but you definitely need to keep any eye on it. Good advice from carnuck. 54bobby
I thought he ment watch out for the shroud while jacking up the engine.
88whitemanche
You don't have to jack the truck that far up to get the mounts in...just enough that the thread come out of the holes...I did both motor mounts in 45 min my first time no help.....
