Turn Signal Cancelling Problems

Recommended Posts

I've had a problem with my turn signals cancelling properly for a while now, when I turn the steering wheel to the right even by very little it cancels almost immediately but when I turn the wheel to the left it takes almost a full turn if not a little more to cancel, my steering wheel is perfectly level when driving straight and my wheel alignment is dead on, can anyone please help I have access to an alignment rack if needed, thank you.

A common cause of this is a broken turn signal canceling cam (or broken spring) in the upper steering column. You have to pull the steering wheel, horn insulator ring, and lock plate assembly to get to it. It's plastic and it's common for them to break.

I thought I'd bump this thread instead of starting a new one. I need the little bottom spring shown in that pic above (the finger is covering it).

Does anyone know the part # for it? I'm going to hit up an auto parts store or two tomorrow but if anyone knew the part # it would help. I guess I'll head over to Dorman's website and see if I can figure it out...

Update. I needed that lower spring which is for the left signal cancel, long story short I went to many auto parts stores and nobody had the Dorman part, it's pretty much an online only deal. I also hit up the junkyard that day and found a GM truck with the steering wheel off so I grabbed both springs very easily and it was free LOL
