Good choice in seats, i found some red ones last year and i just found some 2dr gray ones to swap them out with.

 

don't all or a majority of 8.8 with disks have 4.10?

I know 4:10 is one of the options but I think they also came with 3:55 and 3:73 but I'm not any kind of an expert.  It dosent matter because I will be swaping out the front and rear to 4:88 anyway.  I plan on running 35" tires and I want to lower the ratio so I'm not lacking for power.

Don't forget to weld the tube to the center section..... 8.8's are known to spin the tube in extreme situtations..... lookin really good though.....

I have read about the axle tubes possibly spinning in the center section. I have an 8.8 in my Wrangler and I welded that one and I will do this one also but thanks for the heads up.

 

I spent the day at Willy's house pulling the rear axle out of his Comanche. He bought a truss for his from Artec, I think that's right, and it looks great. Comes in bare metal but all cut and ready to weld together. I really liked it so Before my axle goes in there will be a truss on it.

Willy, I ordered me a truss when I got home.  Artec was having a sale 10% off and free shipping.  I figured now would be the time to put it on so I, I mean we, wouldn't have to pull the axel later.

Sweet! Great progress...can't wait to get my front end lift going...I'll eventually get longarms as the funds permit but I got some short arms for a steal....good luck can't wait for more progress and your going fast!!!!

Thanks, I try to get as much done as I can on my days off.  I want to have it trail ready by July when we have our Washington State Trail Jamboree.

I was back in the shop today working on the Comanche but even though I was out there all day it doesn't seem like I got much done.

 

I disconnected the stock control arms from the front axle, drained the oil, took off the steering linkage and removed the stock springs.

 

I then moved to the back of the truck to remove the stock spring shackles. This was tougher than I was expecting. Even though I soaked everything in PB Blaster the night before it was still hard getting the upper bolts off, thank God for heavy duty breaker bars. I did get the old ones off and installed the new longer shackles.

 

 

 

I then decided it was time to drop the transfer case and install the Slip Yoke Eliminator. I've done this before on my YJ but I didn't remember it being this difficult to drop the transfer case. I jacked up the transmission and removed the cross member, so far so good. I then lowered it as much as I could and put a jack stand under it. I then started to unbolt the transfer case after taking off the wiring and linkages. This is when the problems started, I couldn't get to the top two nuts. I could get a hand on them but there was no room for any of my wrenches so I had to modified a wrench to work.

 

 

Now that I had a wrench I could get on with the space I had to work with it was now to short to get any leverage to turn it. I took one of my woodworking clamps and put an end on the wrench and clamped to the transfer case. I tightened it until the clamp was about to break and I was going to give up when the nut let go. There went an hour of my life that I will never get back.

 

Transfer case out, now the fun begins.

 

 

 

 

 

 

After a couple of hours, of reading some not so good instructions, I managed to get it back together. Now I only need to worry that it will work until I get the truck back up and running.

 

 

Tomorrow I hope to get the transfer case back in, I hope it goes better than it did coming out.
