Egm89
Well hello! I've been a lurker for quite a while now, always appreciating so much knowledge in this forums. Well I have been having some issues with my truck lately, first of all started by losing power while accelerating, but here's the tricky part, if I turn it off and then on the truck would run good again. And for the second problem, is the its been idling high, like way to high, around 2-3k rpms. So far I was blaming one the vaccum lines, but they look good. So I'm lost and asking for an advice of the gurus of this site. Truck specs: 86 4 cyl, 4 speed stick shift, long bed, 2wd. And here's a photo of my truck! Egm89
Thanks man! That was a 300 bucks paint job! God bless cheap labor in mexico!
TheDirtyJeep401
Id say that it is a vaccum leak for it idling high. There are many hoses that could have come undone. As for the power loss, I don't know. If you need some 4cyl things to go off of and look at, mine might be the same (I have an engine out of an 87 or 88) Just tell me, I'm sure I can find (Or Someone else) some pics you can go off of. My trucks the same as yours (Except yours is shinier)
bradseals
I had the same problem every now and again with my 88 pioneer . I think I wound up narrowing it down to the vacuum hose that comes off the brake booster . id check to see if that hose is sealed up tight . .it may help but them again it might not good luck
Eagle
Loss of power is often caused by a clogged catalytic converter. Do you have converters in Mexico?

Loss of power is often caused by a clogged catalytic converter. Do you have converters in Mexico? No man, I don't live in Mexico, haha, I live in Southern California, more specifically San Diego, but since like labor its cheaper over there, for all the major stuff I just cross the border. For instance that paint job was 300 bucks! Pretty good deal if u ask me.
