jeepsouth
I could deal with that too ,and it's the perfect color combo!
AeroNautical
A 2 door XJ with an MJ tailgate. That is awesome, that's what the MJ should have been anyway, room can sometimes be scarce in the cab. Shame he didn't put the side vents on. ftpiercecracker1
For a toy/trail rig, ya that thing would be sweet. You could go up a 90* incline and not worry about smacking the a** on the ground, but practically speaking the bed on that thing is about as useful as tits on a bar hog. . . . . .room can sometimes be scarce in the cab. Understatement of the century :fs1: and i'm not a very tall guy.
GirsMJ86
I would have rather seen a true extended cab MJ than just using the 2dr XJ as a base as something from the factory. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer my beds to be separate on my trucks and the thing to be of usable length. I'm a short and scrawny guy though, so the lack of room doesn't bother me too much. The Gladiator I had almost felt like too much after owning mostly just MJs, and don't get me started on how excessive something newer like my cousins '05 crew cab Ram feels. Since 99% of the time it's just me in my vehicles, bed space is more important to me than cab room. Unless it's a long frikkin road trip, then I'd prefer to have my '99 P71 back honestly. Back on topic though, nice trail toy like ftpierce said, but I'd rather turn the back of a Wrangler into a bed if I'm going that route. From that picture though it looks like some good work on the guys part.

xjrev10
Ha. This is A friend of mines rig. He built it himself. Lots of time involved. Calls it his Cheromanche.

Dadinator
would love to see the inside of the bed.
AeroNautical
It looks like the two bars add to the structural integrity, but doesn't cutting a unibody like that mean bad things?
Oyaji
It looks like the two bars add to the structural integrity, but doesn't cutting a unibody like that mean bad things? Yes, you're right. But if he has added even just a partial cage inside the cab (behind the seats) for the diagonal braces to bolt to, the unibody is now probably stiffer than stock and with substantially more rollover protection too, I would guess. xjrev10
Get him to do a write up! He built it 15-18 years ago I believe. The jeep itself is a 87 or 88. The tire mount is put together with all replacement parts for the front end for spares. The inside of the bed looks like a truck bed within some sort of bedliner I believe. It's got a full cage and has been wheeled a lot. D30 and 8.8. It's stupid clean tho. He did tell me it took 3 MJ roof panels to get the roof correct. NHMJXJ
The thing is awesome! I'm guessing he must have built or finished it in the late 90's ... you can tell it's a pre 97 XJ 2dr, but the tailights are 97+ XJ.
