48MJ
88, 4.0, auto. Any issues with certain brands? How about airtex?
metrictonner
A Carter lasted about a year for me and the first box had the wrong rubber spacers. I considered it a rig compared to the OEM Bosch, which you can't get anymore. It sure was a lot noisier. They all seem to be about the same generic product repackaged for the seller. Good luck. Minuit
I've got an Airtex in mine that I've had since April. I've used it for about 3500 miles and haven't had any trouble but you can definitely hear it at idle. For the first couple of weeks it was really, really loud but it mellowed out after some use. big66440
I ran the Bosch one listed above(69302),it lasted less than a year I'm running an Airtex now it's twice the size we'll see how long it lasts, seems like MJ's like eating fuel pumps. HOrnbrod
I've had the Bosch 69302 on now for a bit over five years - still hanging.
48MJ
Sounds like six of one and half dozen of the other. I was curius because I think I got a bad fuel pump. It starts good and idles fair but when given any throttle it just runs out of fuel, let off and it goes back to idle. Can hit the key and fires up instantly. Think the pressure of the pump is right just not enough volume. By the way it is an Airtex and inadvertantly had the poles crossed at the electrical connections for a while and wondering why it wouldn't start. Wondering if that hurt the pump running backwards for a while?
HOrnbrod
Then do a volume test. Capacity (Volume) TestRelieve fuel system pressure at the fuel rail test port. Disconnect fuel line on fuel rail. Place fuel line into a graduated container. Turn to IGN and let pump run for one minute. Volume of fuel should be 1.05 qts. (1.0L) in one minute. If fuel volume is not as specified, check for a plugged fuel filter or fuel pump inlet sock. Also, check the fuel pump supply voltage at the fuel pump connector using the connector supply and ground pins. Can be anything from 9V - 12V depending on if you have the ballast resistor in the circuit, and/or corrosion at the fuel pump ground behind the left tail lamp. Instead of starting new threads about your original problem you should do some troubleshooting on what symptoms you have.
metrictonner
The OEM Bosch lasted 23 years before I replaced it for no good reason...and I stuck it back in after the Carter failed.
big66440
Maybe I just got unlucky. it happens,,,, I was a bit surprised when it happened I trust the bosch a lot more than the airtex,I threw that in because I had to get home on a sat afternoon while I was working as a mechanic for a shop and thats all the local autozone had we'll see how long it lasts.
