SW86
I'm in the market for new fans for my 4.0. I like the triple fan setup but not the prices. I really just want to see what some of you guys are running as far as cooling setups. Thanks
GirsMJ86
Taurus fans are popular among the FSJ crowd, I'd wager they are within the XJ/MJ crowd as well. I've just never looked to see otherwise. My current rig came with an e-fan, not sure what out of though. I could try to find some numbers on it and see what Google says.
neohic
I'm in the same boat so I just made up my own setup. I used a 210 on/195 off switch in a HO thermostat housing for two of the fans and one remains on constant. The shroud is 16 gauge stainless. Only other change was to get rid of the studs for where the clutch fan bolts on and replace them with bolts for clearance. Works great! The other two fans only come on when I'm in traffic or just idling around. Gauge stays right under 200* all the time.
ftpiercecracker1
I am running a similar setup to neohic, but both of mine are 97 cherokee 10 blade fans. Each has their own dedicated relay. One is wired to a 210/on 195/off temp switch in the thermostat, while the other is wire to the stock system, only coming on with the a/c, defrost, and if the engine temp exceeds 240*. 240 is WAY to high for me but the only switch i have found that meets my needs costs $50. Even with just my one fan running nearly 100% of the time my engine never exceeds 200 even in the hottest situations.
SW86
Neohic thats exactly what I'm looking for. what fans are those? what size are they? i can buy a 16g shroud from dirtbound for 49 bucks. they fit three 10" fans. so if i could locate some fans id be in business. plenty of JYs around here so getting some used ones shouldnt be a problem. just need to know what to look for
HOrnbrod
Keep in mind that two 1997+ XJ 10-blade fans will pull more CFM of air than three aftermarket 10" fans. At the expense of pulling more amps. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/electric-cooling-fan-cfm-rating-tests-results-1182706/

I've had two of them for years now and I have no idea what manufacturer they are. I bought them at an Advance Auto close to six year ago. The third fan I just had sitting around but it had the same numbers on it so I ran with it.
comanchedude
I run the dirtbound shroud now, and 3 80watt fans I bought on amazon. the fans were 15 each . they pull a ton of air. and so far they are incredible I was out just yesterday and the temps were right at 90 deg and we did alot of hard wheeling up tough hills most the day and i was very impressed how the temps stayed dead on 195. so if 120 bucks is in your budget thats what I spent on this upgrade. ..Now I did run two factory fans for several years with no complaints. but they could not keep the temps pegged like the new setup in very hi demand situations ..but they never let over heat to happen.. so you can just get two factory units from junk yard and they will mount right up on both side of the rad and work great.
