jeepmarine312
ok, so when i turn on the ac or heat i can hear it blowing, like you know the vwoosh noise thats constant when anyone has ac or heat on, but there is nothing coming from the vents (that i can feel anyways, even on max) and if i put it on defrost for the windshield, i can still hear it, but cannot feel it, even though the window does start to defrost (takes about an hour though). i live in GA and right now its so hot outside that the inside of my orange MJ is like an oven. and when it rains too the window fogs up so bad i have to pull over or open window and stick head out just to see where I'm going. personally i don't want to die and i don't wanna risk my girlfriend when its raining... any ideas? I'm thinking it might be the vacume lines but i don't know how to check them or even where there at for that matter... I'm learning as i go, sorry... TheDirtyJeep401
Might be vaccum lines. For the heater check the radiator coolant. and A/C , I don't know because I don't have it :(
Geonovast
I had a similar issue in one of my MJs awhile back, to where it would only blow out of the defrost vents. Ended up being the main vac line was broken off of the vacuum reservoir (blimp) in the bumper. Your issue is most likely vacuum related, if you can hear the blower running. I'm learning as i go, sorry... Asking questions is basically the whole point of this forum. Don't apologize.
64 Cheyenne
Check the vacuume line, its alittle plastic line that enters the cab near where the heater lines enter. Also check that your football is hooked up behind the front bumper, follow their lines back to vacuume source, football - back along right inner fender - right side of fire wall - across to left side of firewall - then to vacuume source on the engine. If that good, look under the dash at the heater box, left side, move the heater control lever (with motor running) check that the blend doors open and close, the vacuume motors are round with a rod coming out the middle of them. Possibly, take the dash cover off check the heater control mechanism, check that the actuator cable and vacuume lines are hooked up.
Harley
another possibility is if somebody has ever removed the heater box for whatever reason and possibly broke it reinstalling it or it didn't seal properly behind the dash. The plastic heater boxes get brittle with age and can break if somebody isn't careful enough. Id feel under the dash around the box for any airflow, if ya don't feel any major leaks then go with the vacume lines as previously suggested. jeepmarine312
a guy i met at the JY said it might be my duct work under the dash... idk, but what he was saying sounded like it made sense and could be the issue... anyone got an idea? Poke your head under the dash and move the controls with the engine running. You'll see little silver cannisters with vacuum lines on them and levers moving. Another possibility is that a rodent has built a nest in your blower motor. Easy to check. Poke your noggin up under the passenger side dash. There's an outlet that looks like a checkerboard. Through one of the holes, push the flap up and you can see the blower motor.

jeepmarine312
UPDATE--- so i checked it out again today. if the AC is on MAX with the setting at HIGH the door opens, and i can see the fan moving, but if i put it on heat or vent, or bi-lev or anything else, the door closes and i can still hear the fan spining, but if i take it from HIGH and turn the little rolly cliker down, then it just stops 100%. wtf... please help. its like 100+ degrees outside everyday, i live in GA. high heat and high humidity... need AC... plus GF is starting to hate riding in it with me, i can't go back to her volvo, PLEASE HELP ME!!!! HOrnbrod
the fan in the little checker box thing runs great, and the door opens and closes... checked that out when people first replied on here. the little canister with the little rod. the rod moves and the door opens... seems to only open on max though, and close on anything else... That is the vacuum actuator. If it only works on high because it either has a busted diaphragm, is sticking, or isn't getting enough vacuum on the other speeds besides HI to actuate it because of a vacuum leak. UPDATE--- ... plus GF is starting to hate riding in it with me, Give her a rag when it rains and have her wipe the windshield when it fogs up until you get it fixed.
