The samurai is pretty cool,it has a hybrid exo cage blended into the body. Most people can't tell its there.

I want to do that with my mj! Tubed flat style flares, the connect to the sliders and bumpers, with sliders and bumpers all bracing the frame! Thats almost exactly what i've been designing in my head!

Here's an album on the samurai the pics aren't in order but you should be able to get an idea of how we did it.

Its has a perimeter cage all the way around/through it blended into the body then the flairs are built off of it.

Man kinda glad someone else has already done it. takes some guess work out of the process. Originally got the idea from detoursusa's xj build, the rolling felony, on cherokee forum. he did tube fenders up front, wrapped the tube around the grill, and put on circle headlights up front. don't want all that, but thought it would be cool to tie fenders into the frame/bumpers

EDIT

Pics related, detoursusa rolling felony

I just want mine to be an exo, since no room for internal in the mj without some serious modding that I'm not ready to get into...but his fenders/front end originally gave me the idea

Am I missing something? I see tube fenders blended into body and bumper, but I do not see an "EXO CAGE" on this Sami. I looked real close, I don't see it and can't imagine if its there that it works because it would have to be 1/4 O.D. to be hidden in this pic.

I really like the front "fenders" on that Toyota EXO cage. They look mean and real good the way the come back and out and then dive back down into the A pillar tube. Nice flow!

The entire samurai has a perimeter cage around it the you can't see, the flairs are attached to it and it ties through the rig from side to side and through an internal cage.

That's why I said it was a hybrid exo, the exo portion is around the body but it uses an internal cage in case of a roll over.

All the tube on the sammy is 1.5" and 1.75" .120 wall

Last time i looked he had a 20+ page build thread on cherokee forum, title "The Rolling Felony Story"...havent looked in a while. Easily the coolest build xj i've ever seen, full internal cage, LEATHER seats, boat seat in rear, working on "perimeter cage" on the outside. Read the whole build in a day. good easy read, lots of humor in his thread!
