hitman72 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 So I decided to take the fender flares off to paint them and ended up braking a few of the bolts off as i have read is usually the case. Is there a good solution out there? Can you get them from NAPA? Thanks.

87manche1 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 screw them on with a screw from the wheel well to the flair metal
earl*t Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I'm not familiar with NAPA, mine came from Fastenal. Trim the broken studs off with a cut off disc or equivalent. Thoroughly remove rust from surface and tack weld replacement bolt, good to go. I was able to salvage a few of the nuts using an industrial strength penetrating oil, Kroil. The web address is on the bottom of the can, WWW.KANOLABS.COM. Pricey but an excellent penetrant. Original nut... I believe this is an OEM replacement nut but strongly suggest size verification. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/6_1_0mm_10mm_Hex_Head_Nuts_19mm_Loose_Washer_p/pas5915-25.htm Replacement nut with washer.

Just be glad you broke the retainers on a 1984-1996 XJ/MJ. 1997-2001 retainers are dealership only and cost $300 for a set.
hitman72 Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Thanks guys, I think i am just going to drill out the studs and replace them with hardware, maybe jb-weld them so i can replace the inner liner but we will see, haha.
