Oil Pan Bolt Pattern

Recommended Posts

Was anyone smarter than me and made a diagram of the bolt pattern on their 4.0 oil pan bolts? Most of them are short hex heads, but some have a threaded end to attach the splash shield and support sensor leads. My pan has been off much longer than my memory and I didn't sketch or photo the locations.

Going to try to get it back on tomorrow and start on the exhaust manifold. Definitely will take photos of everything else I take off.

I did.

Hard to explain but here goes.

Disregarding the 4 small bolts that go into the timing cover.

2nd and 3rd ones back on the passenger side are studs.

1st and 2nd ones back on driver's side are studs.

I have a handmade diagram if anyone who is a computer geek wants me to scan it to via email and convert it into a nice computer type file.....

Don't have a diagram but I can feel your pain LOL. A good trick I use is to sketch the part out on a piece of cardboard and then punch the fasteners into it as I'm taking them out. Good for timing covers, oil pans, etc. that have a bunch of different sized fasteners.

Cruiser - I'll redraw it with notations on bolt and stud locations and post it. May take a few days as I have a conference to work through Tuesday.

If I can learn how to add notes on a photo, I'll use a photo of my oil pan. Otherwise, I'll just draw it.

is there a way to attach a pdf file to a post?
